USA ::Home sweet Home::

Posted in Home Sweet Home on Friday, June 29, 2007 by dragonsvamp

Just taking a few minutes to let everyone know that I have arrived safely in California. I will put up a longer post later on when I have time about all the wonderful things that happened to me on my way here (sarcasm dripping if you haven’t noticed).

USA ::24 Hours and Counting::

Posted in Blog News, Home Sweet Home on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 by dragonsvamp

I decided to steal a few minutes from my crazy schedule to say a quick goodbye to Jordan. The next time I will blog on here will be from the other side of the ocean. I will no longer have any posts about my experiances in Jordan. No more ranting and whining and bitching about stuff here because I just simply won’t be here.

I have about 24 hours until I board that plane back to the States. Wish me luck everyone! See you on the other side :p

USA ::Almost Time::

So I’ve only got 7 days left before I hopefully board the plane back home.  Life is super hectic what with trying to wrap up my tutoring (no one wants me to finish and most of them upset and wondering why I have to leave them), figure out what I need to take with me and what I want to take with me and what doesn’t need taking, and seeing everyone before I leave. It’s really hectic.

My room is upside down with boxes of things going and staying and I can’t seem to get anything done if I don’t have my friend around with me pushing me to tackle the huge amount of junk I have. I swear I must have thrown away a whole truckload of stuff. All things I can live without (like my homework for all my math classes since the 7th grade) but I would much rather keep.

Well if that didn’t cure my hording tendancies I don’t know what will!

It’s getting stressful though and I really wish this is all already behind me. It’s really really tough. It’s a new life I’m headed for and my old life is not really willing to let me go just yet and I’m not sure I want to go completely either.

So much is expected of you during the time before leaving and when you don’t measure up or you can’t meet everyone’s demands you get critisized. Not something you need to add to your stress when you’re just about to leave.

InshaAllah khair. I’ll just have to wait it out and try as hard as possible to please everyone as well as get everything done that needs to be completed.

Wish me luck!

Book Review ::White as Snow::

Title: White as Snow Series:  N/A

Author: Tanith Lee

Pages: 319

Cost: $9.73

My Rating: C+

Date Published: 2000

Comment: I remember reading a few books by Tanith Lee back when I was 14. I loved them. They were so different. So surreal and the stories were just amazingly woven. That’s about the Unicorn series she had written. I had expected something like that when I read White as Snow. I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I read this book during a stressful and very busy time in my life that I wasn’t able to fully focus on it (at least not as much as I would prefer) but though I thought it was a worthy read I didn’t think much more of it. It’s a book I would most likely not read again because it drags on quite a bit and the characters don’t seem as real as they could be, therefore not letting the reader get attached to them. I would want to read this book once but alas only once. It’s good but just that step under great.

Fam ::Spider Brings the House Down…Way Down::

Posted in Family on Friday, June 8, 2007 by dragonsvamp

Just an hour or so ago I saw this huge spider in the cornor of the wall in the living room. That thing was big. The size of my palm and I got pretty good sized hands. So I see it first and point it out to the anyone in the room at large.  It was so pretty. I jumped up and took these pictures of it.

The zoomed out view:

The close up:

The kids were hollering and having a fun time acting scared. The older girls decided they wanted to spend the night at some other people’s houses because they’re freaked. I just kept snapping away. Truly that was one beautiful spider; too bad my mom’s best friend decided to expressly come over to kill it.

On another note my 19th birthday is tomorrow. It marks the beginning of my last year as a teenager. I’ll really miss being a teenager now that I think about it. Oh well on to bigger and better things eh? I sure hope so because if not then I’d be mighty disappointed that I had to grow up.

USA ::Plans…Plans…::

Posted in Home Sweet Home on Thursday, June 7, 2007 by dragonsvamp

Well here’s an update.  I ordered my college transcripts sent from California to the University of Michigan a few weeks ago and apperantly they had recieved them because now I have 74.5 credits transfered.  The college credits totalled 20.5 credits and all of them transfered over. I now have Junior status though I will need at least another three semesters to be able to graduate which is absolutly no problem for me.

What’s the plan? So far this is what is going on in my plans for going to the states:

  • June 27 2007
    • Leave for the airport at around 8 am (I would have sent my lugage through the day before)
    • Airplane takes off at 11:30 am. I’ll be traveling with American Airlines which is opperated by Royal Jordanian Airlines
    • One and a half hour layover in Chicago
    • Arrive at LAX (Los Angeles California) at 9pm where my aunt and uncle will pick me up
  • Month in California
    • I’ll be staying with my aunt and uncle for most of the month
    • See the ocean as much as I can (which wouldn’t be hard if I stay at my aunt and uncle’s house because the view from their house is the ocean and the beach)
    • Catch up with as many of my friends as I possibly can get a hold of
    • I’d like to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain
    • Stay a few days with my writting buddy Madison V (totally looking forward to that)
    • Attend my friend’s wedding (if she decides to make it on the first of July instead of end of June)
    • Get In n Out, 7/11 slurpy, pretzel (from Pretzel Time), and a few other foods or restaurants that are too many to mention at the moment
    • Go shopping in the malls with their great sales and go to Barnes and Nobles a few times as well
    • Watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix in theaters and buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when they are released
    • There’s a slight chance I might go up to Washington state for a bit to see the rest my uncles, aunts, and cousins.
    • I want to stop by Hot Topic
  • August 2nd-4th 2007 (tentative)
    • Leave at an unknown time as of yet
    • Most likely make a stop for a short bit in Georgia
    • Arrive in Flint Michigan

That’s all I can think of to write down right now. I’m sure there’s a million other things I want to do. I’ll find out about them as they come along.

Movie ::Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End::

Posted in Movie Reviews on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 by dragonsvamp

Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Cast: Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Bill Nighy

Year of release: May 25 2007

Genre: Action/Adventure, Adaptation and Sequel

Running Time: 2hours and 45minutes

Rating: PG-13

Crtics’ Rating( B-

My Rating: A

Comments:. I got exactly what I expected. The quality was really good even though it stretched out a little bit in some of their scenes. But in general a true Disney movie! Loved it and it’s one of those trilogy enders that keeps up it’s quality in my opinion as each movie progresses the story line doesn’t get lost though as is typical the action does become more intense and more frequent.  I really liked it though and think if you liked the first two then you’ll definitely like this one. I’m not sure if this is the last movie in the series or not but I think it is.  If not then I’m all for the next movie. I can’t help but keep praising this. So I’ll stop now.
